A compressible turbulence model for the dissipation rate

In this work, the ability of a Reynolds stress model to compute turbulent homogeneous shear flow with significant compressibility effects is discussed. Several studies compressible flows carried out in past years have shown that pressure strain correlation mainly responsible for strong changes magnitude anisotropies. Two recent models term are considered conjunction standard dissipation rate kinetic energy predict highly sheared tested. It found deficiencies appear calculations even if improved by corrections. Consistent earlier studies, deficiency attributed use incompressible dissipation. However, correction equation uncovers main focus present study. This makes coefficients depend on gradient Mach and numbers. The proposed tested low cases from DNS results Sarkar. A comparison predictions shows good qualitative agreement. Therefore, incomp- ressible be an important issue flow.
